First I want to thank everybody involved in this beautiful story. Charlotte is going to have a fantastic life with Bob.
She went home with him yesterday and slept on a soft bed probably for the first time in her life. She will spend the next 2 weeks at home getting over her KC and then will go in for her surgery to remove that ugly tumor. So far the results are inconclusive, not a mast cell but definitely has to come out. Her blood paned is perfect. While under anesthesia, Dr Galea will make sure she is indeed spayed and look for anything else requiring attention on this beauty. He will give her teeth a long overdue cleaning so she can be sparkling while she goes to "work" with Bob as the official greeter/mascot of the Dogromat.
To all of you who contributed to her chip in, a huge huge heartfelt THANK YOU, this would not have been possible without your help. Please be assured that all the money you donated to her medical needs will be exclusively used for her care and IF there is any left over (which I doubt but you never know!) I will check with all donors involved as to where they want it to go. So far $304.80 have been spent on blood panel, cytology, fecal and
overnight ISO boarding. Next step will be a chest Xray before surgery and then of course surgery itself. Again Thank you all for your concerns and generosity and keep checking Sachi's facebook and website for update on Miss Charlotte.
BTW, Bob is keeping her name and she is now responding to it! What a resilient wonderful little boxer girl!

After only 24 hours in SAR's care, we found her a perfect home. She will be living with Bob who prefers older dogs. She will be going to work with him every day once she is over her kennel cough.
We can't wait for updates! |

Charlotte is safeShe will spend the night at the clinic.
A needle aspiration on the tumor was done and sent in. Blood test tomorrow. She was started on meds for her cough. Chest X-ray within 10-14 days. She has lost a lot of weight from the day her owner dumped her at the shelter. Charlotte has to go into a foster situation asap. We'll see her tomorrow and update her fans. |
CHARLOTTE - out of time?About two weeks ago, Celeste and two volunteers of Sachi Animal Rescue met at the Carson shelter to pull two lucky dogs. Two others were not so lucky - they were dumped by their owner. He had them tied up by their bellies (WTF!) with rough ropes in the back of his truck. We know it happen every day but when you see it with your own eyes, you see the dogs shaking with fear while they are being dragged inside the shelter, it is a whole different experience. |

The Pitbull was taken away by a kennel worker, and the Boxer female was shuffed inside a holding cage by its owner. Celeste, Raphaele and I had tears running down our faces - the owner couldn't care any less that his
dog begged him with her eyes to take her back home. He gave her a final push, closed the door, turned around, smiled at his wife and off in the sunset they went.
You think " why didn't SAR save her right then and there? Aren't rescue suppose to do that?"
Well, you would think so. All dumpers think that. Their former pet will get adopted and live on a farm (my mother told me the story and I found out later it is code for " sorry, honey, the dog is dead"
- on a side note: even rescues use that story but that is a different story).
Of course we want to save her but were do we put her? All of our foster homes are full (and you can't force them to take a certain dog). She has medical problems that need to be addressed. SAR has vets that offer discounts
to take off that ugly, huge tumor that hangs from her belly but still, they want to get paid. Like any other rescue, SAR depends on donations.
This is where YOU come in. Money can buy happieness! This older gal could be happy again. All it takes is a little bit of that " dirty, sexy money" that we know you have. Nobody asks you to pay it all, just a tiny part of it. Together we can make her happy again. $10, $20, $50 - c'mon let's buy a LIFE!
